Jason Bateman sets indie gigs

Will star in 'Longest Week,' 'Disconnect'

After a year of studio comedies, Jason Bateman is returning to his indie roots, as the thesp is in final negotiations to star in Far Hills Pictures' "The Longest Week" with Olivia Wilde and "Disconnect" from Liddell Entertainment.

Peter Glanz wrote and will direct "The Longest Week," with Bateman as a man who lives a life of leisure in his parents' prestigious Manhattan hotel. In the span of one week, he finds himself evicted, disinherited and in love.

Stone Douglass and Taylor Materne are producing through their Far Hills Pictures banner along with Neda Armian.

"Disconnect" will be directed by Henry-Alex Rubin and already stars Alexander Skarsgard, Frank Grillo, Andrea Riseborough, Colin Ford and Michael Nyqvist.

Andrew Stern penned the script; Mickey Liddell, William Horberg and Jennifer Hilton are producing.

Story follows a large ensemble of characters who are affected -- and in some cases destroyed -- by the Internet and other forms of modern communication. Bateman will play Ford's father in the pic.

Bateman has had a busy year, appearing in Universal's "Paul" and "The Change-Up" as well as New Line's "Horrible Bosses."

The actor would shoot the pair of indies back to back through October and November.

Next up for the thesp are Universal's "I.D. Theft" with Melissa McCarthy and "The In-Sane Laws" with Vince Vaughn.

He is repped by CAA and 3 Arts.
